About DelusionCalc

A free reality check for dating standards, built on public population data and simple math.

What is DelusionCalc?

DelusionCalc is a collection of free calculators that answer one question: how many people actually match what you are looking for? You pick your filters (age range, height, income, education, relationship status, and more), and we estimate what share of real adults pass all of them. The result is shown as a percentage, a "1 in X" figure, an approximate headcount, and a playful 1–10 delusion score.

Besides the main delusion calculator, you can check how rare you are, see your height percentile, build an ideal partner, or size up your local dating pool.

Why we built it

Most dating preferences sound reasonable one at a time. "Over six feet", "earns a good salary", "within five years of my age". The surprise comes when you combine them, because each filter multiplies against the last. We wanted a quick, honest way to see that multiplication, without judgment. Wanting what you want is fine; it simply helps to know how rare it is.

How the numbers work

Each filter you choose keeps only the share of the adult population that passes it. Those shares are multiplied together to estimate the final pool. Where two traits have no published cross-table, we treat them as independent, which is a simplification we state openly.

Our figures are summarized from public statistics, including census-style data on age, income, education, and marital status and health surveys that measure height and body size. Regions covered are the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Europe. Full details and limitations are on our methodology page.

What we are not

  • Not a dating app or matchmaking service, and not affiliated with any dating platform.
  • Not professional advice. Results are estimates for entertainment and general information.
  • Not a measure of anyone's worth. Chemistry, kindness, and shared values cannot be found in a census table.

Our principles

  • Privacy first: calculators run in your browser, with no accounts and no stored answers.
  • Transparent methods: we explain our sources, assumptions, and limits.
  • For everyone: the tools work for any gender combination.
  • Honest about uncertainty: estimates, never guarantees.

How the site stays free

DelusionCalc is free to use and shows ads from Google AdSense to cover hosting and development. Ads never change your results. Learn more in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Use.
